MOOR MUSIC AND LIMETREE FESTIVALS

As the above picture indicates, festival season and the chance to abandon your integrity is fast approaching. On this tip I thought I’d mention two that are happening right on my doorstep and name drop some of the acts who will be meshing their sounds with the those of the great outdoors.

Moor Music Festival is now in it’s sixth year and runs from 12th- 15th August. Taking place on rolling hills near Skipton, North Yorkshire, this year’s talent includes dub-step tyro Joker, Notting Hill Carnival stalwarts Channel One Soundsystem and Luke Unabomber. Other attractions include local ales, a 1930s lounge cinema and a ‘Pedal Powered Orchestra’ which invites festival goers to pedal in order to power electronic instruments. For heads that don’t know Skipton boasts Stanforth’s who are proclaimed to sell the world’s finest pork pieces and has it’s very own castle built 900+ years ago. Don’t sleep.

Limetree Festival brings the worlds of jazz, funk and soul together in the natural conservation surroundings of Limetree Farm, Grewelthorpe, North Yorkshire, between 27th-29th August. Expect suitably spacey performances from James Taylor Quartet, reggae artist Rocky Dawuni, much touted hip-hop funk band Mouse Outfit, Kava Kava and the Utah Saints.
