MONDAY MP3 GRAB: KANKICK
KanKick seen here errm kicking back with a beer of Dutch origin.
One of the perks of spending Sundays researching and writing hunched up over your computer is that, from time-to-time, you come across gems that make you think, “This is worth spending my day off doing”. Now admittedly I am v.late to the party with this, but those of you who like to be fashionably late about things (like myself) then keep reading.
Whilst digging deep into the visual side of Brainfeeder, I kept reading about cats repping an LP entitled From Artz Unknown produced by a dude called KanKick. It was referred to with a reverence that marked it out as a piece of mythical West Coast magic that had been snoozed on for far to long. Not only that, its creator was an elusive, vinyl addicted maverick with form: friends with Madlib at school, a member of the Lootpack and the Funk Farm. Having bumped From Artz Unknown and listened to the excellent and freely available downloads from 03 and 06 on BTS Radio I can now say I am in the know.
