Rome born, Barcelona based beat-smith Giovanni Civitenga aka My Dry Wet Mess may have a slightly silly name but his musical pedigree is very serious indeed, for the 27 year old producer has a background in sound-reactive video design and a father who plays bass for Ennio Morricone’s orchestra.

Following an LA showcase of his audiovisual work Alfred ‘Daedelus’ Darlington was so impressed he signed My Dry Wet Mess up to his nascent Magical Properties label. The resulting record and MDWMs’ debut LP, Irrational Alphabet is an intricate expression of soulful, electronic music executed with a scientist’s precision. His mix for Bonafide Beats follows a similar path, Songs for the Diagonal People includes tracks by contemporaries from the current electronic-instrumental hip-hop crossover scene such as Shlohmo, Salva and Lazer Sword as well as older experimentalists Broadcast.
