PUMA have cemented their relationship with Undefeated by extending their Undefeated (UNDFTD) Collection with PUMA. This time around the Cylde trainer goes under sewing machine.

Named after Clyde Frazier in 1973, the Clyde was the first signature basketball shoe and is a bonafide piece of streetwear history, rocked by DJs, b-boys, musicians and graffiti artists. The 2012 version features a snakeskin finish to the iconic PUMA stripe and will be available in three old-school colorways. The kind of steez you would expect Soul Train’s Don Cornelius (RIP) to have endorsed.

Bonafide set out with the aim to celebrate hip-hop. Our aim was to explore ‘old-school, mid-school and new-school creativity’, five issues on we’re proud to present the old school x new school issue. For this issue’s roundtable we speak with the men behind Numbers, the Glasgow based record label that has rewritten the rulebook on how techno, electronic, R’n’B, house and hip-hop music should sound. On the visual side, we delve deep into the Brainfeeder psyche, speaking with designer and artist Charles Munka about his contribution to the label’s distinct art direction.

Sneaky Business is a recent campaign set up by Oxfam Australia, a virtual march (don’t worry, you don’t have to leave your seat) that begins in Australia, travels through factories in Southeast Asia, China, and Central America and will finish in the USA.

To participate in the march, supporters can upload an image of their sneakers (optional) and choose a message to send to footwear brands in support of workers’ rights. The messages will be collated and delivered to various footwear brands once the march reaches its final destination.

Great video for those with a sneaker fetish. RANSOM by adidas Originals, showcases the projects latest line in footwear that combines casual shoes with sneakers. The new releases also involve STUSSY who have provided the innovation behind the latest piece, the Plain CS STUSSY that boasts a plain toe upper and crepe sole.

Gracefully shot, with the cinematography veering from dusty 70s sun drenched footage shot using a super 8mm cine camera through to downright explicit sneaker porn moments, the promo features vinyl athlete DJ Muro and a delicate piano laden score provided by Stones Throw’s J. Streetwear sage Milly Cundall brings her Airsngraces blog to Bonafide for a new monthly report on what’s kicking in the world of fashion and, um, kicks.

There’s no doubt about it, Spring has sprung and summer promises not to be far behind. It’s time to begin indulging a little thought, at least, in barring some flesh, reaching for those shorts and investing in some fresh summer kicks and T’s. With that in mind, this spring/summer is all about brand collaborations and so I present to you, the extremely exciting third Nike X Liberty collaboration. From the scrums I witnessed at the launch last week, these are to be the kick of choice this summer. There’s 12 styles in total from the Dunk Hi to the Air Force 1 and the current trainer of choice the Blazer (mid and low). All feature unique and distinct Liberty prints including the hugely iconic floral designs. They look equally hot on fellas as the ladies so, gents don’t be put off, ladies like a man who can rock some flower power with confidence!

The Dickies men’s work pant is a timeless trouser that never falls from grace. Whether you’re rocking them like your straight outta Compton with a wifebeater, hem rolled up to reveal a crisp pair of Air Force 1’s, or you like to keep it retro, this is a classic addition to any wardrobe (male or female). Keeping the theme of collaborations going here, I’ve found the perfect T. Young Lovers is T-Shirt label all about limited editions, only doing 100 runs of each design, Well, they’ve dropped the ‘Stop Collaborate & Listen’ T-shirt in homage of the one-hit-wonder, rap Pop tour de force that is Vanilla Ice. If slogans aren’t your thing, check out another of my favourite designs their Burger T-shirt.

Being that it’s proving to be a sunny April, we can finally start rocking sunglasses all the time without looking like a wannabe rockstar in the London drizzle. If you’re like me, you’ll have sat on your favourites ones from last summer or lost an arm along the way, so it’s time to splash out on something new! Check out sunglasses brand Komono for some fresh takes on some classic styles, the Rafton in tortoise and Woody in grey are bang on trend darhling, and there’s more slightly ‘out there’styles, if you fancy being futuristic cool.

Fashion collabs don’t get to more heavyweight than this. Revered shop/label Liberty, house of influential and timeless prints, has worked with sportswear Goliath Nike to produce a new range of sophisticated fashion sneakers. Nike’s iconic models, including the Blazer Mid and Low and Dunk Hi Skinny, have been clothed in a range of classic Liberty prints. Available exclusively at Liberty from April this really is footwear that will put a timely spring in your step.

It only seems like yesterday we were larking about in our open sandals and Vans plimsolls, and now we are plunged into what has been a brutal start to the winter. That of course should be no excuse not to buy sneakers that others dare not even wear indoors. Especially with Christmas not too far away.

Jordan Brand will be ending this year with the usual limited edition XI, this time the Cool Grey XI originally released in 2001. The new year will see a return of the much loved III’s with the white and black model which you can pretty much wear with anything. Even more exciting (for sad sneaker fiends) is the return of the original black cement box and hang tag a sight rarely seen on a shoe not in some overpriced ‘bay auction.

JB’s bigger brother’s obnoxious teenage son (Nike SB) have just done their sixth collaboration with Supreme in the shape of a whole new shoe the Supreme 94. Like last years Bruins, there are four in different colours. Though they are all now only available on the ‘bay.

Nike seem to be returning to true hype beast distributor with another pack due next year in collaboration with Stussy. The very Blazer-ish All Court Mid with a lizard skin swoosh and clear sole should come out in at least a black and a ‘Mysto’ blue.

Those looking for some more tier zero business need to pop to Foot Patrol in Soho. Just released is the very lush black Asics x Mita collab Gel Lyte III. For those that like it old-school watch out, on 4th December there will be an exclusive drop of the retro Adidas basketball shoe the EQT Support a 1991 re-rub.

With the World Cup now over the big boys can focus their efforts on Retro re-releases and new grails instead of million pound advertising campaigns on players who had tournaments to forget.

Adidas have thrown up another fruity range from fashion designer Jeremy Scott. Here we see the Adidas Forum in many incarnations some eye catching (the license plate blue’s) and some downright terrifying (the Teddy Bear Highs look like something Gary Glitter dreamed up).

As always the Jeremy Scott selection is more for the uber expensive high fashion crowd than the traditional sneaker heads who think exhibition shoes are a pair of OG 1’s with the original Jordan hang tang.

On the topic of premium Adidas have some slightly more universal albeit pricey collab’s due this autumn with Neighbourhood and the in house Y-3.

Continuing with the collaboration theme Asics have been doing some good work with Ronnie Fieg this summer. The most significant (and limited) is the Navy Aqua Gel Lyte III. Like all good brands Asics used a good deal of sex to turn some heads on this line using the not entirely unattractive Joli Robinson to model the Gel Lytes in various states of undress. Those looking for a Joli-less pair can hit up ebay for around two hundred American dollars.

The notable releases this summer from the big swoosh so far include the AM 90 Infrareds which are now becoming the equivalent of the Neon 95’s for the amount of times it has been re-released. Also worth mentioning is the rebirth of the fat tongue on the Nike SB Dunk lows as seen in the recent Chromeball shoe. Despite whispers of some heavily desired samples from a few years back threatening full release the rest of this years output bar a stunning Quickstrike look pretty dry from Nike SB.

Thanks to a couple of celebrity endorsements other than Ghostface Clarks has seen a spike with the Desert Kahn II being one of the most desirable shoes this summer. This smart dress shoe is now particularly sought by the loafers, haircut, shorts and no socks crowd and yours truly has already seen some emotional displays from people trying to track down a pair. Despite this current range being sold out we have been told that a restock is due by the end of the summer to avoid any riots or suicides.

Finally this month sees the return of legendary London sneaker boutique Foot Patrol at new premises in Soho. Now under the Size?/JD umbrella Foot Patrol will serve a range of exclusive and Tier Zero business, expert knowledge plus collectible shoes from years past as well as showcasing kicks from up and coming brands. Those that like to hang around the nearby Stringfellows in the early hours may notice a camp out or two for some special edition goodness in the coming months.

Kicks and Canvas is a new exhibition by Soleheaven and Zero Cool Gallery, and features 21 artists customizing 21 pairs of kicks and 21 canvases. Running until 18th the artistic talent involved includes Goldie, Insa and Mr Jago and representing Leeds Jon Lawrence. Jon provided visuals for issue 03 of Bonafide and his sculptural work puts a new twist on iconic hip-hop products. In other words, it’s proper boxfresh art.
