As the dust settles on what must have been one of the more surreal hours of Team Bonafide’s summer so far, we’d like to share with you one of the most goddarn funky-fresh mixes to grace the audiosphere this side of Uranus. Milk ‘n’ Anchovies was commissioned especially for the recent Nike Tied Together event, aimed at promoting Nike’s collaboration with (Product) Red to help end AIDS in Africa. 24 one-hour mixes were put together by the 24 teams repping London in the global event, and collectively hosted on a microsite via the dope folk over at Mixcloud.
As the World Cup draws to an end and England fans, empty Stella bottle in hand, ruminate where it all went wrong for Don Fab and his crew (possibly picking the same team that’s failed time and time again didn’t help) it’s all too easy to think that the sound of Africa is merely a colourful vuvuzela.
