AIRS N GRACES

Ahhh the British summer. An idyllic institution brimming with strawberries & cream, Al Fresco living, Wimbledon and streets littered with happy smiley people getting their Pimms O’clock on. Well, that was the case until the weather turned shit and we’ve been left not knowing if it’s gonna be hot or cold, wet or sunny. Ho hum, as I said, it’s an institution and a notoriously predictably unpredictable one at that. Now I’ve got the weather out the way I shall commence by furnishing you with some of the latest streetwear drops to hopefully bring a little sunshine back into your lives. …Read More.

FERGADELIC X STUSSY T-SHIRTS VIDEO PROMO

Stussy – Fergadelic from Stussy on Vimeo.

Fantastic little profile of illustrator/artist/designer Fergadelic (also known more prosaically as Fergus Purcell). Over the years Fergadelic’s designs have illuminated the threads of Silas and Tonite and, in terms of streetwear aesthetics is a bit of a legend. Now back in the fold, Fergadelic has collaborated with STUSSY on a series of t-shirts for their 2011 summer collection. Good stuff.

Nike Liberty blazers

Streetwear sage Milly Cundall brings her Airsngraces blog to Bonafide for a new monthly report on what’s kicking in the world of fashion and, um, kicks.

There’s no doubt about it, Spring has sprung and summer promises not to be far behind. It’s time to begin indulging a little thought, at least, in barring some flesh, reaching for those shorts and investing in some fresh summer kicks and T’s. With that in mind, this spring/summer is all about brand collaborations and so I present to you, the extremely exciting third Nike X Liberty collaboration. From the scrums I witnessed at the launch last week, these are to be the kick of choice this summer. There’s 12 styles in total from the Dunk Hi to the Air Force 1 and the current trainer of choice the Blazer (mid and low). All feature unique and distinct Liberty prints including the hugely iconic floral designs. They look equally hot on fellas as the ladies so, gents don’t be put off, ladies like a man who can rock some flower power with confidence!

UK HIP-HOP SPECIAL: BONAFIDE MAGAZINE #04

Bonafide issue 04 cover

As usual we’ve raised the stakes and aimed to put out something that you won’t find anywhere else. A UK themed issue from the red and blue colour scheme to the fashion imagery through to the innovative musicians and artists we’ve spoken to, issue 04 celebrates our very own local originators.

Peep the roll call of exclusives. On the music tip we’ve got exclusive features with the bedrock of UK hip-hop. From the grey High Plains of Huddersfield, Jehst and the YNR crew, cover star Klashnekoff reloading for his next saga, the cerebral thoughts of Ty, electronic pioneers Coldcut/Ninja Tune and Daddy Skitz. Also in the mix is the un-definable Jamie Lidell, floating vocals from Fatima, the relentless underground warrior Cappo and Radio 1xtra DJs Benji B, Mista Jam and DJ Target.

On the visual side of things we chat to street artist agent provocateur D*Face, visual storyteller Slinkachu, dope designers Oscar and Ewan, and include illustrations by some of the UK’s finest pencil wielding talent.

Oh yeah, and from across the Pond, the one and only Mutha Fecking Gaslamp Killer drops in for a cup of tea. Cop your copy here or from the usual stockists including TATE, Fopp, Magma, Rough Trade and all good record stores.

Yup, that’s right kids, for a limited time only you can read all back issues of your favourite art design and music magazine (or ‘a fucking hip-hop guide book’, according to Raekwon) online at Issuu.

We enjoy wasting the day away on the Internet whilst pretending to do work as much as the next person, but Bonafide is essentially a print magazine and in order to keep it that way we need to sell it. And to encourage you to buy it we’re giving away a free album from the legendary BBE records with every 2 issues ordered via our online shop. And that’s what we like to call bullshit free marketing. …Read More.

Nike NSW Destroyer in Black

Streetwear sage Milly Cundall brings her Airsngraces blog to Bonafide for a new monthly report on what’s kicking in the world of fashion and, um, kicks.

Being a lady with an overly gooey soft spot for what some would label ‘dressing like a dude’, my approach to streetwear is mixing ‘n’ matching and a bit of freewheeling. It’s all about taking a little bit of the ruff rugged’n'raw and adding a little ‘feminine’ je ne sais quoi. I find it prevents one from leaving the house looking like a Mobb Deep reject or a member of any other 90’s East coast rap outfit for that matter!
