COMPETITON ALERT: WIN 3 X PAIRS OF DO TICKETS AND OJ SIMPSON ALBUMS

WESTWOOOOOD! The big dog will be spinning a ‘Golden Age’ set of late 80s to mid 90s bangers at Fabric next Friday, celebrating The Doctors Orders 5th birthday bash. 5 years is nothing short of a lifetime in the claustrophobic world of clubland so props must go to the good doctor!

Alongside Tim Westwood will be an Extended Players 6 deck set, featuring Shortee Blitz, DJ MK & Harry Love, the birthday boy himself, Spin Doctor and a live performance by Stone Throw’s resident rugged MC, Guilty Simpson.

Fresh from the natty OJ Simpson album, featuring exclusive production by Madlib, Guilty Simpson is one of the few contemporary rappers who still brings the ruckus, unshamedly gangsta with one hell of a live show, and that’s why we dig him.

We have 3 pairs of tickets to the night (Friday 23rd July) and 3 copies of the OJ Simpson album up for grabs. Just email in telling us your favourite medicine, mailto:mailbox@bonafidezine.com

COMPETITION ALERT: WIN KODE9 DJ-KICKS

“No player is bigger than the team”, is a well worn footballing cliché that rings poignantly true at the business end of this World Cup and one that could easily apply to music genres, but in the case of  dubstep few have been able to match the levels of prolificness and creativity of Kode9. The producer, DJ, lecturer and author has released a slew of seminal releases through the Hyperdub label he founded, while nurturing talents and releasing music by the likes of Joker, Zomby and Burial. …Read More.

BONOBO ‘BLACK SANDS’ COMPETITION

Bonobo’s lush new album, Black Sands, dropped at the end of March and is a brilliantly deep piece of work. Appropriately this is complemented by some pretty nifty artwork. Art directed by Oscar and Ewan and photographed by Pelle Crépin, the LP and singles release feature lovely sweeping shots of the Lake District.

“Based in the beautiful landscape of the Lake District, the three shots (album and two singles) are photographed so the place where the next shot was taken from is in view, forming a triangle.”

The photography captures the atmosphere and stillness of the environment and makes you want to pack up, head to the Lakes and then put on your boots and just walk for as far as you can. Perfect.

We’ve got a copy of the limited edition release that includes a rare 5 inch transparent piece of blue vinyl goodness. To be in with a chance of winning, email mailbox@bonafidezine.com and answer the following (topical question).

What large land mass spits near a beach made of black sand?

Competition closes 30th May 2010. The winner, drawn out of the electronic hat, will be notified via email. Best of luck.
