MUDMOWTH AND METABEATS X BONAFIDE BEATS #13
For the #13 chapter of Bonafide Beats we’re proud to have Metabeats and Mudmowth taking charge of production duties. Part of the Associated Minds clan – think a more local, accessible version of the Wu living in dragon roaming country but without the ongoing court cases and internal beefs (I think) – the duo have pillaged their vinyl collection and boiled down their musical inspiration into 35 minutes of superbly cooked musical goodness.
The mix flexes its DNA with an opening slug of bona fide classics. A potent concoction that includes O.C.s legendary Time’s Up, smoking D.I.T.C product and Jeru Tha Damaja’s pulversing Can’t Stop The Prophet (in fact where the hell has Jeru got to these days?!). The relentless opening then slows down and stretches into a main event that sees the duo doffing their baseball caps and giving nods of appreciation to funk, soul and jazz. Things rap up with a bang with Sledgehammer, a track from Sledgehammer Kisses the duo’s latest collaboration. With heavyweight rhymes, throbbing beats and a razor sharp train of thought, this track makes love to hip-hop whilst at the same time smashing all that X-Factor wannabe rap and R’n'B sheeettt into oblivion. Britain’s Got Talent? Damn right it has.
No track list for this one peeps, keeping it old school…
