THE NEW YORK UNDERGROUND LIT UP

Filmed live at the WNYU Halftime 10th Anniversary (early 2008 I think), these videos feature amazing beats and underground cats who are so sick they should carry a health warning. Part one features Masta Ace,  Craig G and Andre the Giant. Part two sees turns from Apathy, Torae and Emilio Rojas. Part three has Supastition, Reef the Lost Cauze and Andre the Giant (again) ripping it up. Showing the creativity, attitude and energy that makes hip-hop such a distinctive art-form, the set is so explosive the studio begins to fall apart during the final installment! Watch and witness some pure NYC hip-hop.

The  videos were created by NY Radio DJ, Jay Smooth, whose www.illdoctrine.com is a video blog that provides a commentary on the world of hip-hop. Illdoctrine is a world away from the one dimensional hip-hop that is covered by the media 90% the time. Jay Smooth delivers videos with warmth, charisma and intelligence. He can be found musing on a diverse range of topics, from what is going on with musicians and the challenges facing the music business to discussions on politics and the alienation of the disenfranchised. The posts look at the bigger picture. This is thought-provoking, engaging and funny new media.
